This 1 hour detailed assessment is highly beneficial for those women who are thinking of having a baby or are currently trying to conceive. This assessment focuses on identifying any red flags in the musculoskeletal system pre-pregnancy that may become a source of pain and discomfort during pregnancy. Ultrasound imaging of the pelvic floor muscles and deep abdominal muscles feature highly in this assessment.

Pregnancy pilates is a highly beneficial addition to any pregnancy fitness regime. It is important for women to exercise safely and regularly during pregnancy to reduce the risk of pain and discomfort during this period, as well as preparing your body for the rigours of labour and the recovery period. Classes focus on core stability and flexibility, with particular attention on the deep abdominal muscles and pelvic floor. Please note that these classes are designed as a circuit-style class and are performed in small groups (maximum 7 people in a class) which allows for close supervision by the physiotherapist. These classes are available to women from 12 weeks gestation.
This 1 hour detailed assessment is aimed at new mothers who are keen to start the recovery phase following childbirth. Assessment focuses on identifying any musculoskeletal complaints that have appeared since giving birth, assessing pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscle strength using real-time ultrasound, testing for abdominal separation and educating new mothers on how best to reduce unnecessary strain on their recovering bodies.
Recovery sessions aim to settle any post-pregnancy discomforts as well as introduce the new mother to specific exercises designed to improve core stability and pelvic floor strength. An exercise program is designed specifically for the new mum to ensure rapid recovery following childbirth.
Post-natal Pilates Classes
Post-natal Pilates is highly beneficial for those women who have recently had a baby. Proper recovery following pregnancy and childbirth is vital to preventing ongoing pelvic floor, abdominal and pelvic instability issues. Classes concentrate on improving pelvic floor function and deep abdominal muscle strength, as well as improving posture and general strength and flexibility. Classes are performed in small groups (maximum 7 people) and all exercises are pelvic floor safe. These classes are available to women from 6 weeks post birth.
Post-natal Pilates (1 on 1)
Post-natal Pilates is a great way for new mothers to enhance their recovery following childbirth and the advantage of 1-on-1 sessions is complete supervision by a qualified Physiotherapist at a time that is convenient for you.
Post-natal pilates aims to: • Improve deep abdominal muscle strength • Improve pelvic floor muscle strength • Improve posture • Improve general strength and flexibility • Reduce the risk of incontinence • Assist new mothers to handle the physical demands of motherhood
These 45 minute sessions are available to women at any stage following the birth of their baby. Sessions will be designed to accommodate to each woman’s ability.
